With effect from June 8th 2015, the Counterpart Driving Licence has been discontinued. This means that the DVLA will no longer supply new, or update existing Counterparts and instead will operate an online database to provide this information for insurance purposes. A facility is being designed to allow brokers to access this information, but in the meantime, we will need the consent of our clients in order to check their details online to confirm cover is accepted. Unfortunately giving consent is not as simple as saying you don’t mind us checking. You are required to:
  • Step 1: Visit the website gov.uk/view-driving-licence
  • Step 2: Select “Start Now >” and input your information
  • Step 3: Tick the consent box and select “View Now”.
  • Step 4: Select the “Share your licence information” tab.
  • Step 5: Click on the “Create a code” button.
If you are unable to send your licence information to us by email or post, you need to contact our office immediately on 01782 280 280 and provide us with a DVLA issued 8 digit access code. The code is only valid for 21 days following it it’s creation and allows us to view your licence information online. If you do not have internet access, a licence check code can be obtained by telephoning the DVLA directly on 0300 083 0013. Calls are charged at local rates.
