By Georgina Handy Marketing Executive 2019 marks a big year for us at Connect Insurance, as we are turning 30 years old and the industry of insurance has changed a lot since we began back in 1989. The biggest shift that we have seen is that the majority of people have switched to arranging their insurance via the internet to […]
By Georgina Handy Marketing Executive When it’s been a cold and frosty morning the majority of us will leave our car engines running, in order to de-ice our windscreens, however we could be in for nasty surprise. This is due to the fact that Stationary idling is an offence under section 42 of the Road Traffic Act 1988; the act […]
By Ben Scott Marketing Manager We’re into February already, yet once again are at the mercy of wintry weather conditions. I’m sure many experienced drivers are already dismissive of the risks, and scoffing at the prospect of travelling in adverse weather conditions such as heavy rain, snow or ice. For many however, the heightened risk of an accident, the potential […]
By Georgina Handy Marketing Executive Lawyer Clive Thorp from Selsey, West Sussex has successfully won against his council when his car was damaged by a pothole in a case that could now help more motorists across the UK. By Ben Scott Marketing Manager With all the hullabaloo emanating from the Brexit negotiations, you may have caught wind of the repeated mentions of how a “hard” departure would massively disrupt our lives. From immediate recession, rampant unemployment, surges in immigration, planes being grounded, shops running out of food, hospitals having no medical supplies… and many other equally outlandish claims. By Ben Scott Marketing Manager We have undoubtedly come a long way since the first gasoline powered car was unveiled back in 1885 by German inventor Karl Benz. There are three standard levels of cover offered for insurance products. These are ‘Third Party Only‘, ‘Third Party, Fire and Theft‘, and ‘Comprehensive‘. Many insurance customers do not understand the difference of these levels of cover and automatically assume ‘Comprehensive’ is the only cover worth having.
- Third Party Only will provide cover for any damages/injuries sustained by a Third Party in the event of a claim. There is no cover provided for your own vehicle, however if your vehicle is low value, it may be worth considering whether paying extra to cover it is worthwhile.
- Third Party, Fire and Theft will cover the above, and also any damage to your own vehicle if the damage is caused by a fire due to a mechanical fault, attempted theft, or theft. It is important to stress that a Third Party, Fire and Theft policy will not cover fire damage caused by arson as this is classified as Malicious Damage which is included below.
- Comprehensive will cover all of the above, in addition to any damage caused to your own vehicle in an accident, along with Accidental Damage and Malicious Damage claims.
Yes, Connect Insurance can typically still arrange a policy for you if you have convictions. The severity of the convictions will affect the competitiveness of the quote we can offer, and in all likelihood the price will be higher due to fewer insurer partners we use being willing to offer terms.
